Pelvic Neuromonitoring
Pelvic neuromonitoring enables the intraoperative control of nerve functions and can therefore reduce the occurrence of consequential damage and make a significant contribution to maintaining the quality of life of patients. Pelvic neuromonitoring is suitable for a variety of surgical procedures in the small pelvis and has so far been used primarily for the removal of rectal carcinoma in the course of deep anterior total mesorectal excision (TME).
Pelvic neuromonitoring can reduce the risk of incontinence or sexual dysfunction while completely removing the mesorectum. Thus, the pIOM technology developed by inomed significantly supports the surgeon in maintaining the quality of life of many critically ill patients. The simultaneous display of EMG signals from the anal sphincter muscles and the bladder pressure makes it easier for the surgeon to identify nerves and thus operate more gently.
